The envelope is addressed to the Royal War Ministry, East Asian Department, in Berlin. It is a Feldpost letter. On the front is an ink stamp from the East Asian Expedition Corps. The reverse shows two paper stamps of the Commander of the East Asian Expedition Corps. An ink stamp dates the letter to September 16, 1901.
Footnote: The East Asian Expedition Corps was a German-led multi-national army of 64,000 men from Germany, the US, the UK, France, Italy, Japan, and Russia under the control of the German Army Supreme Command in East Asia. It was founded in 1900 to defeat the Boxer Rebellion in China and dissolved in 1901.
