Instituted April 18, 1926. A silver gilt and multi coloured enamel decoration, the central medallion consisting of a front facing bust of Carlos Manuel De Cespedes, surrounded by a blue enamel ring inscribed CARLOS MANUEL DE CESPEDES 1868, surrounded by a silver gilded wreath, with ten silver ornately decorated bursts stemming from the wreath, evenly spaced on a blue enamel ring, the badge totally surrounded by a green laurel wreath with red berries, the reverse medallion presents the Cuban coat of arms on a white enamelled field, measures 43.85mm (w) x 50.26mm (h – inclusive of ball suspension), weighs 39.0 grams (including ribbon), worn on original blue ribbon, heavy enamel loss to green enamel wreath, minor wear, in better than fine condition.
Footnote: The Order was conferred in recognition of extraordinary merit and service to the Republic of Cuba. This Order was named after the Carlos Manuel de Cespedes for his efforts in the Cuban War of Independence.
