Constructed of silver with multi-coloured enamels, consisting of an eight-pointed radiant star, the obverse with a central white enameled medallion, bearing a hand-painted double-headed eagle overlaid by a banner inscribed “ST. GEORG MIT UNS” (“ST. GEORGE WITH US”), surrounded by a ribbed gilt ring, in turn within a ring of white enamel with a gilt inscription of “ST. GEORG MIT UNS” and hand-painted laurel branches, within a final ring of ribbed gilt, the reverse with a barrel hinge and banjo-style pinback meeting a round wire catch, with an inscription of “RITTERBUND ST. GEORG” and a date of “23.VI.1909.”, the pinback maker marked “GODET”, measuring 85.17 mm (w) x 85.34 mm (h), weighing 63.8 grams, some flecking of enamels evident, in near extremely fine condition.
