Germany, Federal Republic. A Postwar Veteran’s Fallschirmjäger Badge

(Fallschirmschützenabzeichen). Constructed of silvered bronze with gilt, the obverse consisting of an oval laurel and oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, overlaid by a diving gilt Assmann-style Luftwaffe eagle, on top of a background bearing an engraved inscription of “TREUE UM TREUE” (“LOYALTY BEGETS LOYALTY”), the reverse with a crimped barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a round wire catch, unmarked, measuring 40.98 mm (w) x 52.52 mm (h), weighing 34.0 grams, with oxidation and loss of finish evident, in overall very fine condition.
