United States. A Cased Purple Heart, c. 1960

Two-piece construction, in bronze gilt with purple, red, white and green enamels, reverse plain, measuring 34.9mm (w) x 47.2mm (h – inclusive of integral ball), weighs 35.1 grams, original ribbon with “GI” marked crimp style brooch pinback, intact enamels, little to now wear better than very fine.

Accompanied by its ribbon bar and enamelled button bar.

In its hardshelled case of issue, marked "PURPLE HEART" on the lid, presenting an interior crème coloured medalbed, with silk interior lid, measure 88.30mm (w) x 175mm (l) x 33mm (d), wear to obverse, hinge functional, in very fine conditions.
