(Hermann Göring Bild mit Unterschrift). A rare signed photo of Hermann Göring in Vienna. Affixed to a card stock backer, the image depicts Göring in uniform and clutching a baton. He is accompanied by an entourage of Luftwaffe and SS officers, and is in the process of reviewing a Luftwaffe band. The image was captured on Göring’s visit to post-Anschluss Austria at the end of March, 1938. Göring’s handwritten signature in blue ink is clearly visible at the bottom right of the image, which measures 228 mm (w) x 166 mm (h) (not inclusive of backer). It is accompanied by a period original frame, constructed of a lacquered brown wooden frame with backer and stand, as well as an intact glass face. The frame features a silver overlay with an unidentified Vienna-based hallmark and content number of “800”. Unmarked, it measures 258 mm (w) x 198 mm (h). This uncommon, signed photo commemorating an important development in the expansion of the Third Reich is in an overall extremely fine condition.
