In electro-plated nickel-silver, obverse of the handle illustrating the bust of Grand Duke Nicholas, framed by British and Russian flags, surrounded by the inscription "GRAND DUKE NICHOLAS" and surmounted by the Russian coat-of-arms at the tip, a right-facing rider on horseback at the mid-point of the handle with leafing below the rider, the transition part of the handle inscribed "RUSSIA" vertically, reverse of the handle illustrating laurels, clovers, thistles and roses in a floral montage, inscribed "PAT APL FOR" (Patent Applied For) and "BIRKS EPNS" (Birks Electro Plated Nickel Silver) on the transition part of the handle, measuring 32 mm in width at the bowl x 150 mm in length, surface wear, contact marks, fine.
