Machine embroidered rayon construction Edelweiss flower; features fourteen silver/grey petals, a seven bulb yellow stamen, and dual silver/grey leaves and stem, mounted on a black wool base; 70 mm x 50 mm; unissued near mint condition. Footnote: These SS Edelweiss insignia's were worn on the side of the SS mountain troop M43 caps and are part of the Dauchau insignia grouping. Edelweiss flowers traditionally represent bravery and courage in German/Austrian culture.
