Germany, Wehrmacht. A Wound Badge, Black Grade, by Heinrich Wander

(Verwundetenabzeichen in Schwarz). Constructed of blackened magnetic metal, the obverse consisting of an oval laurel leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, with a central Stahlhelm overlaid by a mobile swastika, on topped of crossed swords on a pebbled field, the reverse with a vertical pinback meeting a flat wire catch, unmarked, measuring 36.67 mm (w) x 44.23 mm (h), weighing 6.6 grams, accompanied by its period original package of issue, constructed of light brown paper stock, the obverse exterior bearing a black inscription of “VERWUNDETEN-ABZEICHEN SCHWARZ”, the reverse exterior bearing a black inscription of “HEINRICH WANDER, GABLONZ”, including an original wax paper liner, measuring 60 mm (w) x 100 mm (h), in overall near mint condition.
