Russia, Imperial. An 1894 St. Petersburg Imperial University Graduation Jetton in Gold

Constructed of solid gold, on loop for suspension, the obverse bearing a finely-detailed raised Romanov-style imperial eagle clutching an orb and sceptre, the reverse bearing a central raised date of “1894”, circumscribed by Russian Cyrillic inscriptions of “И.С.П.У” and “В.С. ШАЦКИНЪ” (the recipient’s name, translating to “V.S. SHASKIN”), topped by a crown with an integral ring and suspension loop, unmarked, measuring 21.91 mm (w) x 33.05 mm (h), weighing 7.7 grams, in extremely fine condition.
