Russia, Imperial. A Medal for the Peace with Sweden, c.1790

Constructed of silver, on loop for suspension from its period correct replacement ribbon, the obverse bearing a raised rightward-facing profile of Catherine the Great, above laurel and oak leaf branches, the reverse with a central wreathed Russian Cyrillic inscription of “ЗА СЛУЖБУ И ХРАБРОСТЬ” (“FOR SERVICE AND BRAVERY”), above an inscription of “МИРЪ СЪ ШВЕЦ ЗАКЛ 3. АВГ. 1790 Г.” (“PEACE WITH SWEDEN CONCLUDED 3 AUGUST 1790”), measuring 27.33 mm (w) x 43.89 mm (h), weighing 14.7 grams (inclusive of ribbon), age-appropriate material fatigue evident, in overall near extremely fine condition.
