United Kingdom. A Light Cavalry Foreign Service Lancers Helmet Plate, c.1890

In brass, Victorian crown within the voided area, backed by crossed lances bearing flags that extend into the star base, surrounded by an oval garter inscribed "HONI SOIT QUI MAL Y PENSE", the base with a twelve-pointed multi-rayed star bearing an ornate insignia on the star point at 6 o'clock, measuring 106.3 mm (w) x 120.8 mm (h), both lugs pinched but intact, the obverse with spotting, the central ray at 2 o'clock dented, slight undulation on the garter, along with greening evident in the recessed areas, greening throughout on the reverse, better than very fine.
