Czechoslovakia. A Municipal Police Helmet of The Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia, c.1919-1945
A sturdy-framed “bobby” helmet constructed from pressed fiber material with a black felt exterior, a visor protrudes at the front and a neck guard extends from the rear, the front is adorned with a badge illustrating the Protectorate of Bohemia & Moravia coat of arms laying upon an angled square with linden leaves, a raised spine with a two-part silvered metal strip runs from the top of the helmet plate to its conclusion at the outer edge of the neck guard, all held in place by small rivets, the silvered metal cockades on either side are in the form of a lion’s head, with rungs that hang from the lion’s chin, connecting to the metal chinstrap resting on the visor, the underside of the visor and neck guard are lined with black felt, the interior of the crown is lined with purple rayon material, a thin leather sweatband lines the inside brim, the number “3140314” is written in pen under the crown, the helmet measures 187 mm (w) x 278 mm (h), displays minor soiling on the black felt, and is in very fine condition.
