Czechoslovakia, Republic. A Rare Retribution Trial Judicial Guard Executioner Sleeve Insignia 1945-1949
Composed of two pieces, white cotton patch cutout in the shape of the Czech lion sewn in place on a white cotton field that is screen-printed in red ink, with white and blue embroidery forming the Slovakian shield on its chest, the crown, tongue and claws of the lion in yellow embroidery, the lion's eye in black embroidery, the outline of the shield in blue embroidery, measuring 130 mm (w) x 133 mm (h), exhibiting light soiling, near extremely fine.
Footnote: After the Second World War, based on the Beneš decrees, special courts at the local level (lidové soudy, people's courts) were set up to punish war crimes and collaboration. Until 1948, they sentenced 713 people to death. Another 10 people were executed for common crimes.
