Miniature silver Latin cross paty with white and red enamels, crowns situated in the quadrants, suspended from a Danish crowned “FR IX” monogram (Frederick IX), the obverse inscribed with “OG” on the 12 o’clock arm, “KON” on the 3 o’clock arm, “GEN” on the 6 o’clock arm, “GUD” on the 9 o’clock arm (GOD AND THE KING) and a crowned “C5” monogram of Christian V on the centre, the reverse inscribed with a crowned “Fr” on the 12 o’clock arm, “1671” on the 3 o’clock arm, “1808” on the 6 o’clock arm, “1219” on the 9 o’clock arm, a crowned “W” for Waldemar II inscribed in reverse centre, measuring 13.20 mm (w) x 28.18 mm (h), on a white ribbon with two red stripes, very fine.
Footnote: Believed that the Order of Dannebrog was instituted by King Christian V in 1671 as a revival of an alleged older order instituted by King Valdemar Sejr in 1219.
