Ethiopia, Kingdom. A War Cross for Korea
Instituted December 11 1959 by Emperor Haile Selassie I. In silvered bronze, a cross with three rounded arms, presenting a star on the 3 and 9 o’clock arms and a lion head at 6 o’clock, the 12 o’clock arm with a surmounting Ethiopian crown, the obverse with a left facing bust of Emperor Haile Selassie I, the reverse features an Amharic inscription which can be translated to “We support every nation’s independence but we are always the enemies of aggression, Korea 1943”, measures 52.4mm (w) x 66.9mm (h), weighs 54.0 grams, worn on original ribbon with pinback, light wear, lovely patina, remains in extremely fine condition.
