Austria-Hungary, Empire. A Lot of Wartime Photos of Flying Boats
(Flugboot Bilder). A lot of four rare wartime photos of Austro-Hungarian Aviation Troops flying boats, including one depicting a Lohner aircraft in the Adriatic off the coast of Pola (now Pula, Croatia), the reverse in postcard format and bearing a handwritten inscription with address to a Hungarian recipient, stamped with a Feldpost mark and date of “1918”, measuring 138 mm (w) x 88 mm (h), with minor material fatigue evident, in near extremely fine condition; one depicting a captured Italian Macchi aircraft in harbour at Fiume (now Rijeka, Croatia), the reverse in postcard format, measuring 138 mm (w) x 85 mm (h), in postcard format and with a handwritten inscription indicating that the aircraft was damaged over Nova Vas and made an emergency landing in a lake near Doberdo, measuring 140 mm (w) x 88 mm (h), and; one depicting another downed aircraft, the reverse with a handwritten inscription indicating the photo was taken and that the three-man crew (named) was killed, measuring 158 mm (w) x 107 mm (h), in near extremely fine condition.
