Austria, Imperial. An Honour Decoration of the Red Cross, Officer’s Cross with War Decoration, c.1915
(Ehrenzeichen vom Roten Kreuz). Instituted in 1914. Military Division. In silver, a red and white enamelled cross, the obverse medallion featuring a red enamelled cross on white enamel field, surrounded by the inscription PATRIAE AC HUMANITATI, a green enamelled wreath sits on the arms surrounding the medallion, the reverse 9 and 3 o’clock arms are engraved 1864 1914, two J prongs from the 12 and 6 o’clock arm, marked with a Diana's head (Dianakopf) (which was used between 1872 and 1922), the head flanked by a "2" on the left and an "A" (Vienna) on the right, measures 47.7mm (w) x 57.1mm (h), weighs 28.6 grams, light enamel wear to wreath, otherwise in extremely fine condition.
