Austria, Imperial. An Order of the Golden Fleece, Collar, by Rothe, c.1960
(Orden vom Goldenen Vlies). Instituted October 1, 1429. Produced in Rothe style, a postwar collar of silver gilt, comprising twenty links of the stylized symbol of the order, with light stippling and floral designs, each link measures 32.5mm (w) x 22.75mm (h, attached by two integral rings on each side, these links alternate between twenty flame links with blue and white enamel medallions with sunburst details, each link measures 19.3mm (w – including integral rings) x 33.1mm (h), the collar its entirety weighs 215.1 grams the end clasps feature a rectangular slot with simple hook, the reverse of each link is plain, two integral rings broken off different flame links, enamels intact, light gilt wear, in very fine condition.
