A beautiful Iron Crown in Gold, presenting a Lombard Iron Crown featuring green, red and white-enamelled jewels, which rests on the two-headed Austrian eagle with sword and orb, with a blue enamelled central shield showing on the obverse the imperial initial F and on the reverse the year 1815, marked on the base of the pendilia and the elongated suspension ring with an FR in a diamond denoting Rothe manufacturing, and a Gold mark identifying former Austro-Hungarian Empire, 1866-1872 with a purity of 750/1000, the circular suspension ring presents and FR mark and two A marks denoting Viennese manufacture, measures 33.38mm (w) x 64.29mm (h), weighs 23.6 grams, some white enamel missing from beads on crown, otherwise in extremely fine condition. Accompanied by two pieces of ribbon, one small with buttonhole at each end measuring 150mm (l) x 37mm (h), light wear, and a piece of neck ribbon measuring 500mm (l) x 50mm (h), in near extremely fine condition.
Contained in a hardshell case of issue, presenting a brown leather exterior stamped OESTERR. KAISERLICHER ORDEN DER EISERNEN KRONE II. CLASSE, the interior presenting a crème coloured silk lid with ROTHE makers mark mark, the base holds a crème coloured recessed medal bed, measures 600mm (l) x 75mm (w) x 30mm (h), hinge and clasp functional, light wear, in very fine condition.
