A fine example of a 1915-1918 issue Austrian Imperial War Cross for Civil Merit Second Class in its case of issue; a four-armed cross constructed of silver gilt and enamels; the obverse with a center white enameled medallion, with “FJI” in silver gilt lettering, circumscribed by “Merito Civili Tempore Belli MCMXV” (Latin - At the merit of the Civil War), with an oak wreath on the cross; the reverse vertical pin and two vertically oriented rivets; the reverse maker marked twice “FR” for “Rothe & Neffe, Wien”, as well as “AA”; measuring 45.30 mm x 45.52 mm; weighing 30.0 grams; accompanied by its original case of issue; constructed of heavy pressed paper with a textured red faux leather (leatherette) exterior; lined interior lid; recessed medal bed; functional spring catch catch with stud release; intact fabric hinge cover; functional exterior metal hinge; measuring 73 mm x 73 mm; in virtually mint condition.
