Instituted August 14, 1914. Military Division. An ovular silver medal, the obverse bearing a superimposed red enamel cross on a white enamel shield, being held by two angels, the inscription PATRAIE AC HVMANITATI at 6 o’clock, the exterior is surrounded by a war decoration presented by a green enamel laurel and oak wreath, the reverse features the years 1864 1914 surrounded by a silver laurel and oak wreath, measures 36mm (w) x 49mm (h – inclusive of integral ring), weighs 32.5 grams (including ribbon), attached to triangular ribbon, suspension ring has a split and is bent, enamel son laurel side of wreath chipped, wear to obverse shield, dark patina, in very fine condition.
