A grouping of four commemorative medals, awards, and decorations, consisting of 1) An 1898 Commemorative Bronze Medal; constructed of bronze; with its period original ribbon; 34.18 mm in diameter; weighing 20.0 grams. 2) An 1848-1908 Commemorative Cross; constructed of gilt bronze; with its period original ribbon; measuring 36.22 mm (w) x 36.63 mm (h); weighing 25.8 grams. 3) A Karl Troop Cross, Instituted 1916; constructed of zink; with a correct replacement ribbon; measuring 28.57 mm (w) x 29.54 mm (h); weighing 11.1 grams. 4) A 1914-1918 War Commemorative Medal, Instituted 1932; constructed of bronze; 36.11 mm in diameter; weighing 20.5 grams; in overall very fine condition.
This offering is a part of the "Dr. Albert Goodwin Collection", a preeminent assemblage of world Orders, Medals, and Decorations composed solely by Dr.Goodwin between 1946-1967. Dr. Goodwin had a successful career as an educator and prominent physician in New York as well as actively serving in both World Wars with the United States Medical Corps. He acted as both President and Vice-President of the Orders and Medals Society of America (OMSA) and is responsible for organizing their first convention in 1960. He maintained further membership with the American Society of Military Collectors, the International Orders Research Society, and the American Numismatic Society.
