Austria, Imperial. A Teutonic Order Marian Cross
                (Marianer-Kreuz des Deutschen Ritterordens). Constructed of silver with multi-coloured enamels, on loop for suspension from its period original tri-fold ribbon, consisting of a Latin Cross with black and white enameled arms, the obverse with a central red enameled Geneva Cross on a white enameled medallion, surrounded by a ring of black enamel bearing an inscription of “ORDO TEUT HUMANITATI” (“TEUTONIC HUMANITARIAN ORDER”), the reverse with a white enameled medallion bearing a date of “1871”, unmarked, measuring 34.87 mm (w) x 44.01 mm (h), weighing 18.3 grams (inclusive of ribbon), evidence of repainting of the obverse Geneva Cross, otherwise in very fine condition.
