Instituted March 12 1890 by Emperor Franz Joseph I. (1890-1917). In bronze gilt, a medal with the obverse features a profile of Franz Joseph, the reverse presents the inscription SIGNVM LAVDIS surrounded by an oak and laurel wreath, the medal is surmounted by a large crown, measures 30.7mm (w) x 50.4mm (h), weighs 21.8 grams, worn on triangular ribbon, gilt wear on crown, small edge knocks, remains in near extremely fine condition.
Contained in its case of issue, a red leatherette case with impressed coat of arms in silver on lid, interior presents a card lining on the lid and black velvet recessed medalbed, measures 61.9mm (w) x 107mm (h), hinge and catch functional, light wear to exterior, in very fine condition.
