Instituted December 28, 1898. In silver, the obverse features a right facing bust of Franz Joseph in uniform, encircled by the inscription ФРАНЦЫОСИФЫ. ИМП. АВСТР. КОР. БОГЕМ. ИПР. ИАПОСТ. КОР. ВЕНГР., the reverse bears the central inscription Л.ГВ. КеКСГОЛьМСКОМУ ИМПЕРАТОРА АВСТРiИСКАГО ПОЛКУ ОТЪШЕФА 1848-1898. surrounded by a laurel and oak leaf wreath, measures 33.2mm (w) x 36.4mm (h), weighs 16.4 grams, worn on a replacement ribbon.
Footnote: This medal was instituted by Emperor Franz Joseph I to celebrate his 50th anniversary as Commander and Chief of the Imperial Russian Kexholmian Lifeguards Regiment. The Silver Medal was conferred upon all active Doctors, Officers, and Paymasters within the Regiment. A total of 191 silver medals were created, and a total of 91 were known to have been issued.
