Austria, Imperial. A Silver Bravery Medal, II Class with Officer’s Decoration, c.1917
(Silberne Tapferkeitsmedaille II. Klasse). Instituted on 19 August 1789. (1917-1918 issue). A round silver medal, the obverse depicting a rightward-facing profile of Karl I circumscribed by name and title, the reverse with inscription of “FORTITUDINI” (“BRAVERY”) within a laurel branch wreath and above crossed standards, on a loop for suspension from its period original tri-fold ribbon with magnetic metal hook and loop, designer marked on the obverse “Kautsch”, measuring 40.15 mm in diameter, weighing 18.1 grams, in near extremely fine condition.
