Austria, Imperial. A Commemorative 60th Jubilee Medal with Case, c.1908
(Jubiläumsabzeichen). Constructed of silver, on loop for suspension from its period original tri-fold ribbon with horizontal pinback, the obverse with a rightward-facing profile of Franz Joseph I circumscribed by name and title in Latin, the reverse with an inscription of “IN MEMORIAM SEXAGESGIMI ANNI IMPERII FELICITER PERACTI” (“IN MEMORY OF 60 YEARS OF FAITHFUL SERVICE”) flanked by dates “1848-1908” inside of an oak and laurel wreath, the edge marked with “A” indicating Vienna manufacture, measuring 38.15 mm in diameter, weighing 36.2 grams (inclusive of ribbon), including a replacement length of ribbon, measuring 40 mm (w) x 198 mm (l), accompanied by its period original presentation case, constructed of a wood frame with a faux red leather exterior, the obverse lid with a gold embossed monogram of Franz Joseph I within a laurel and oak wreath, the interior with a padded white satin lid liner with an intact hinge cover, with a slotted and depressed white doeskin medal bed, opening with a functional metal spring catch with exterior stud release and a functional magnetic metal hinge, unmarked, measuring 68 mm (w) x 112 mm (l) x 22 mm (h), in near mint condition.
