Hardshelled, maroon exterior on five sides, the surface of the lid pebbled and inscribed "OESTERR. KAISERLICHER ORDEN DER EISERNEN KRONE III. CLASSE" (Austrian Imperial Order of the Iron Crown, III Class) in gold-coloured ink, the bottom in black and pebbled, maker marked "ROTHE & NEFFE WIEN / K.u.K. KAMMER-JUWELIERE" in gold-coloured ink on the white satin inside lid, lightly soiled mint green felt recessed medal bed, push release, dual-hinged, measuring 62.5 mm on width x 124 mm in depth x 23.5 mm in height, near extremely fine.
Footnote: The Order of the Iron Crown was instituted on June 5, 1805 by Napoleon I as King of Italy. It was discontinued in 1814 and restored on February 12, 1816 by Emperor Franz Joseph. It was issued in three grades: I Class Grand Cross, II Class Commander and II Class Knight.
