(Berühmt Orden vom Goldenen Flies). Instituted 10 January 1430 by Philip III of Burgundy. (ca. 1900 issue). An excellent and rare example of an Order of the Golden Fleece uniform badge, constructed of 18 karat Gold with multi-coloured enamels, consisting of a finely-detailed ram’s fleece, suspended by its midsection by a ribbed band, with the integral loop connecting to a black and white enameled flint flanked on each side by stylized red enameled flames outlined in Gold, with a further integral loop connecting to a suspension ring with a period original ribbon with a horizontal pinback, unmarked however exhibiting the manufacturing characteristics of C.F.Rothe, the fleece measuring 22.82 mm (w) x 33.68 mm (h), the flame clasp measuring 43.59 mm (w) x 18.67 mm (h), with a total weight of 26.5 grams (inclusive of ribbon), in extremely fine condition.
