Austria, Imperial. An Order of Leopold, Commander Cross with Lower Grade War Decoration & Swords (Rothe Copy)
(Österreichisch-kaiserlicher Leopold-Orden). Instituted on 8 January 1808 by Franz I of Austria. Post-1945 Copy Rothe Copy. In bronze gilt, a hollow enameled red cross pattée with white enamel frame, exhibiting a surrounded gilt laurel wreath on each quadrant, along with two silver crossed swords, obverse with a central red enameled medallion with the inscription “F.I.A”0 for “Franciscus Imperator Austriae” in gilt, surrounded by an enameled white ring inscribed “Integritati et Merito” (Latin for Integrity and Merit), with gilt interior laurels denoting a lower grade war decoration, reverse with a central white enameled medallion inscribed “Opes regum corda subditorum” (Latin for The deeds of the Kings win the hearts of their subjects), surrounded by a solid gilded oak wreath, suspended from a hollow and partially enameled red Austrian royal crown, measuring 41.00 mm (w) x 80.86 mm (h - with crown and its integral ring), suspended by loop suspension on neck ribbon, light contact, very fine condition.
