Austria, Imperial. An Order of Leopold, Grand Cross Star with Lower Grade War Decoration (Rothe Copy)
(Österreichisch-kaiserlicher Leopold-Orden). Instituted on 8 January 1808 by Franz I of Austria. Post-1945 Rothe Copy. A silver eight-armed multi-faceted star with a central applique consisting of a cross pattée constructed of gilded bronze with red-enamelled arms bordered by white enamel, with green-enamelled laurel leaves between the cross arms, the obverse centre presents a red-enamelled medallion inscribed FIA for FRANCISCUS IMPERATOR AUSTRIAE, surrounded by a ring of white enamel inscribed INTEGRITATI ET MERITO (FOR INTEGRITY AND MERIT), reverse centre presenting a principle pin assembly, unmarked, measuring 87.95 mm (w) x 87.52 mm (h), weighing 78.4 grams, and in very fine condition.
