(Österreichisch-kaiserlicher Leopold-Orden). Instituted on 8 January 1808 by Franz I of Austria. Post-1945 Copy. A Grand Cross sash badge, constructed of gilded bronze with red and white enamels, with gilt swords crossing through the cross centre, the obverse centre presenting the initials F I A, circumscribed by INTEGRITATI ET MERITO (FOR INTEGRITY AND MERIT), reverse centre with motto of Leopold II OPES REGUM CORDA SUBDITORUM (THE POWER OF RULERS LIES IN THE HEARS OF THEIR SUBJECTS), within a golden wreath of oak leaves, adorned by a detailed Austrian crown in addition to green enamelled laurels, measures 48.88 mm (w) x 93.15 mm (h - inclusive of crown and horizontally pierced ball suspension), weighing 52.2 grams, on flat suspension loop with period original sash in a red colour with white borders, and in overall near extremely fine condition. A silver eight-armed multi-faceted star with a central applique consisting of a cross pattée constructed of gilded bronze with red-enamelled arms bordered by white enamel, the obverse centre presents a red-enamelled medallion inscribed FIA for FRANCISCUS IMPERATOR AUSTRIAE, surrounded by a ring of white enamel inscribed INTEGRITATI ET MERITO (FOR INTEGRITY AND MERIT), with gilt swords crossing through the central medallion, with a gilt wreath of laurel leaves attached to the starts with four rivets, reverse centre presenting a principle pin assembly, unmarked, measuring 88.08 mm (w) x 88.24 mm (h), weighing 95.0 grams, and in extremely fine condition.
