Austria, Empire. A Knightly Order of St. George, Commander's Badge, c.1900
(Ritterkreuz). A Maltese cross paty constructed of bronze and multi-coloured enamels, the obverse centre bears “ST. GEORG MIT UNS” (ST GEORGE WITH US) on a red enamel background encompassed by a white enamel border, the arms of the cross are red enamel with a white enamel border, the reverse is identical to the obverse, on an ornate crown suspension, the obverse bears a central gilt image of St. George on a horse slaying the dragon, on an elongated suspension ring on a black neck ribbon, measuring 54.34 mm (w) x 97.14 mm (h), weighing 36 g, very rare, near mint.
