Austria, Imperial. A Donat of Devotion’s Cross of the Grand Priory of Austria & Bohemia of the Order of Malta
c.1910. Austrian Branch. An extremely fine quality and meticulously crafted example of an Italian Sovereign Order of the Knights of Malta Cross for a Donate of Devotion; constructed of finely detailed 18k solid gold in the shape of a Maltese cross, with a partial fleur de lis between each of the arms; the obverse with three of the four arms in white enamels - the twelve o’clock arm hollow; suspended from a large and remarkably detailed hollow solid gold royal crown, with a Trophy of Arms suspension also of hollow construction crafted in solid gold and red and white enamels; on a broad elongated loop for suspension from its period original neck ribbon; marked “750” for gold purity, and with a stylized undecipherable hallmark on the cross, the Trophy of Arms, and on the loop: measuring 42.22 mm (w) x 101.35 mm (h); an exceptional piece of remarkable quality, in absolutely mint condition.
