Austria, Imperial. A Lithograph Portrait of Andreas Töpper, by Franz Eybl
A lithograph portrait depicting noted Austrian industrialist Andreas Töpper. The subject is depicted in full ceremonial regalia, complete with a shako, sword, and ceremonial axe symbolizing Töpper’s contributions to Austrian engineering and industry. The lower right corner bears the signature of painter Franz Eybl (1806-1880), above a date of “1845”. The lower left corner bears a printer’s mark of “GED. BEI A. LEYKUM in WIEN”. The portrait is situated within an off-white card stock backer, and is in turn concealed within a vintage black lacquered wooden frame with an original glass face. The reverse of the frame is topped with a magnetic metal suspension ring. It measures 33 cm (w) x 39 cm (h). Discolouration and soiling consistent with storage conditions is visible to the image, along with minor scratching to the frame. It is in an overall very fine condition.
