Footnote: The Commemorative Medal for Operations Abroad was instituted on September 26, 1951. Recipients are Belgians or foreigners serving in Belgian units serving in foreign theatres of operations. The HAKTANG-NI battle clasp was awarded to participating members of the Belgiam Army's 2nd Contingent who were in action during the Battle of Haktang-Ni, a skirmish between a largely Belgian United Nations Command (UN) contingent and the Chinese People's Volunteer Army (PVA) forces between October 9 and 13, 1951, just north of the city of Chorwon.
