What's a max bid?

Belgium, Kingdom. An Order of Leopold I, IV Class Officer in Gold, by Ch. J. Buis, c.1860

(Ordre de Léopold / Leopoldsorde). Instituted in 1832. Civil Division, Type I (1832-1951). In 18K Gold with red, black, white and green enamels, weighing 17.2 grams, unmarked, monogram "LL RR" (King Leopold I) on the reverse centrepiece, measuring 42 mm (w) x 69.2 mm (h) inclusive of its crown suspension, fine chipping and crazing evident in the white enamels on the arms at 3, 6 and 9 o'clock on the obverse, along with the arms at 9 and 12 o'clock on the reverse, large rosette affixed to its original ribbon, of superb quality and extremely fine. In its hardshelled case of issue, forest green textured exterior, monogram of King Leopold I in gold-coloured ink on the lid, manufacturer's label inscribed "Ch. J. Buis BRUXELLES" affixed to the bottom, inside lid lined in white satin, medal bed in white felt and recessed, hook closure, measuring 65.5 mm (w) x 120.3 mm (h) x 32.2 mm (d), light wear on the exterior, light soiling in the white felt of the medal bed, case better than very fine.

 

Footnote: The Order of Leopold I was instituted on July 11, 1832. It was awarded for exemplary bravery in war and especially distinguished service to the Belgian state, in five grades: Grand Cross, Grand Officer, Commander, Officer and Knight, in Civil, Military and Maritime Divisions.
