Hardshelled design on both the lid and base, deep red pebbled cloth exterior, lacquered on all sides, label inscribed "Rubans & Croix d'Ordres / JULES MAIRE / Fabricant / 3, place de la Justice, 3 / BRUXELLES" affixed to the bottom, maker's label inscribed "Rubans & Croix d'Ordres / Jules MAIRE / Fabricant / 3, place de la Justice / Bruxelles / DIMIMUTIFS DE TOUT / ORDRE & TOUTE GRANDEUR" affixed to the white satin inside lid, a white cardboard insert placed within the base and housing a medal bed in black felt, push release closure, measuring 58.2 mm (w) x 89.3 mm (h) x 25.5 mm (d), light wear and scuffing evident on the exterior, very fine.
Footnote: The Civic Decoration for Long Service in the Administration was instituted on January 15, 1885. It was awarded to state civil servants for long service, in five grades: I Class Cross, II Class Cross, along with Gold, Silver and Bronze Medals.
