Bulgaria, People’s Republic. An Order of Georgi Dimitrov in Gold, with Case
Instituted 17 June 1950. (1950-1990 issue). Constructed of 14 karat Gold with enamels, the obese consisting of a wheat stalk wreath, wrapped in ribbons of red enamel, with the lower ribbon bearing a gilt inscription of “ГЕОРГИ ДИМИТРОВ” (“GEORGI DIMITROV”), joined together at the bottom by a cogwheel overlaid by a sickle and hammer, and topped by a red enameled five-pointed star, around a central red enameled disc bearing a raised and leftward-facing profile of Georgi Dimitrov, topped by an integral loop connecting to a suspension ring suspended from a pentagonal backplate with a period original ribbon and horizontal pinback, the loop bearing an indeterminate Gold hallmark, measuring 45.76 mm (w) x 48.84 mm (h), weighing 24.1 grams, accompanied by a ribbon bar measuring 22 mm in length, in addition to its period original presentation case, constructed of a wooden frame with a faux maroon leather exterior liner, the lid bearing a gilt Bulgarian coat of arms, the interior with a white rayon lid liner with compartment and a maroon velvet medal bed with a gilt hook, opening with a functional metal hinge, unmarked, measuring 120 mm (w) x 182 mm (l) x 46 mm (h), an exquisite set in extremely fine condition.
