A Second War Croatian Ustasha Corporal's Side Cap (Dorojnik) 1941-1944

Croatia; Croatian-made, constructed with a black cotton exterior, with a distinctive Croatian design and colours, fold down panels on both sides and at the front, with two rising peaks forming a valley along the top, an aluminum Ustashainsignia sewn in place on the front, embroidered strip in braided scarlet red cotton forming a coil on the left side. Inside with a 45 mm wide sweatband in bluish-black cotton and bearing an orate design, an additional 35 mm wide band in the same bluish-black cotton and bearing the same ornate design as the sweatband sewn in place along the upper edge and framing the dome. The cap is large and measures 140 mm x 310 mm, exhibiting minor imperfections and age wear in the exterior fabric, light soiling on the sweatband. As worn.
