Croatia, Independent State. A Field-Made Air Force Mechanic's Badge with Two Photographs, c. 1943, Extremely Rare Original
In aluminum with twelve deep red painted fields, obverse illustrating a spread-winged eagle standing upon the Croatian shield, with a large gear in the background, the initials "F" and "A" etched on the reverse, measuring 62.5 mm (w) x 49.5 mm (h), without attachment, the top left red painted field exhibiting loss and wear, near extremely fine. Accompanied by two black and white photographs: (i) an original one of a trio of soldiers, with the soldier at the far right wearing the badge on his left breast, matte finish, with an inscription on the reverse, measuring 180 mm (w) x 87 mm (h); (ii) a reproduction one of a soldier in a side cap and wearing the badge on his left breast, gloss finish, with an inscription on the reverse, measuring 83 mm (w) x 125 mm (h); photos also near extremely fine.
