Constructed of silver, the obverse consisting of an etched portrait of Ante Pavelić facing left, surrounded by inscription POGLAVNIK ANTE PAVELIC (The Leader Ante Pavelić), the reverse with the coat of arms of the Independent State of Croatia (NDH), along with the inscription ‘ZA HRABROST’ (for bravery) and dated ‘1941’, measuring 35.02 mm in diameter, hallmarked with a goose on the edge, scattered tarnishing on the obverse, on its original triangular ribbon with hook and eye, near extremely fine.
Footnote: The medal was instituted on December 29, 1941. This medal was conferred in recognition of acts of gallantry during conflict. It was awarded to Croatian Armed Forces military personnel and foreign allied military personnel. The small silver medal was awarded to next of kin of Officers who were killed during the conflict.
