Croatia, Independent State. An Order of the Crown of King Zvonimir, Silver Merit Medal, by Braća Knaus

Constructed of silver, on loop for suspension from its period original tri-fold ribbon with a Crown of Zvonimir applique, the obverse bearing a raised and finely-detailed depiction of King Zvonimir, circumscribed by a named of “DIMITAR ZVONIMIR” and flanked by a date of “1076”, the reverse bearing a central raised Croatian national emblem, circumscribed by an inscription of “BOG I HRVATI” (“GOD AND CROATIA”), in turn set within a circular laurel leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by a plaque and at the top by an Ustaša emblem, circumscribed by a final inscription of “ZA ZASLUGE” (“FOR BRAVERY”), the suspension loop maker marked “BK” for Braća Knaus, Zagreb, measuring 32.47 mm (w) x 47.92 mm (h) (inclusive of crown applique), weighing 21.2 grams, in extremely fine condition.
