Croatia. A Storm (Oluja) Medal 1995 in Case
Croatia; Metal with a bronze-coloured gilt, obverse illustrating the raising of the Croatian flag above the old fortress that dominates the old town of Knin surrounded by a traditional Croatian motif, reverse inscribed "OLUJA" in the centre, inscribed "REPUBLIKA HRVATSKA" above, with an open-ended wreath of laurel and oak leaves below, 39.7 mm, original triangular ribbon with pinback, near mint. Accompanied by its 36.2 mm (w) x 13 mm (h) ribbon bar with a 13.5 mm bronze miniature of the medal attached, pinback, in its hardshelled case of issue, marked on the lid with the Croatian coat-of-arms above the inscription "REPUBLIKA HRVATSKA", marked on the inside lid "OLUJA", recessed medal beds for the medal and ribbon bar, case also near mint.
Footnote: This medal was awarded to Soldiers of the Croatian Armed forces for taking part in Operation Storm (Oluja) during the period from August 4 to 7, 1995, to recapture areas of central Croatia held by Serbian forces. This was a large scale military operation involving 150,000 Croatian soldiers and was considered to be a great success from a military view. (C:230)
