Czechoslovakia, First Republic. A Silesia Fire Brigade Merit Medal
Constructed of bronze with multi-coloured enamels, on loop for suspension, the obverse consisting of a central blue enameled disc, overlaid by a golden-yellow shield bearing a black Silesian Eagle, within a ring of red enamel bearing a gilt inscription of “ZEMSKÁ HASIČSKÁ JEDNOTA SLEZSKÁ - ZA ZÁSLUHY” (“SILESIAN FIRE BRIGADE - FOR MERIT”), topped by a fireman’s helmet and axe, fully surrounded by a ring of green enameled leaf branches joined together at the bottom by ribbon, unmarked, measuring 45.42 mm (w) x 21.60 mm (h), some oxidation and flecking of the enamels evident, in overall near extremely fine condition.
