Czechoslovakia, First Republic. A Liberation Medallion, by Medallic Art Co.
Constructed of bronze, the obverse bearing a figure bound to columns with Third Reich images, surrounded by his wife and children, with the Prague skyline prominently featuring St. Vitus Cathedral and the Charles Bridge in the background, above an inscription of “CZECHOSLOVAKIA SHALL BE FREE AGAIN”, the reverse bearing a Czechoslovakian coat of arms, topped by a date of “MARCH 15, 1939”, circumscribed by an inscription of “REPUBLIKA CESKOSLOVENSKA” (“REPUBLIC OF CZECHOSLOVAKIA”), unmarked, measuring 38 mm in diameter, accompanied by its period original case of issue, constructed of two pieces of white card stock, the interior of the lid maker marked “MEDALLIC ART CO., NEW YORK”, measuring 45 mm (w) x 45 mm (l) x 12 mm (h), in extremely fine condition.
