Footnote: Flight Lieutenant Peter Kampmann served with the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) in 1951 and became a Flight Lieutenant in 1952 with the Royal Danish Air Force. He was initially a Flight Trainer on Harvard JP 4 aircraft, then flew twin engine Douglas Dakota DC3 transport aircraft, registering 1200 flying hours in polar flights in Greenland. He was promoted to Flight Captain in 1956 and was discharged in the rank of Major in 1957.
