Estonia. An Order of the White Star, II Class, c. 1940

(Valgetähe teenetemärk). Instituted October 7, 1936 by Prime Minister Konstantin Pats. A II Class set of insignia including a neck badge, a silver get and white enamel six point cross with a singular ray in each quadrant, crossed near the tip, the obverse medallion presents a white enamel star on a silver gilt disc, the reverse medallion presents a when enamelled field with the inscription 1936 X 7, measures 63.25m (w) x 67.90mm (h), weighs 64.5 grams (including ribbon), suspended by a thick singular loop with obverse decorations and worn on an original neck ribbon with an eye and catch clasp, light gilt wear, enamel marked around medallion on obverse, chip to reverse 7 o’clock, in very fine condition; accompanied by the II Class Breast Star, consisting of a six point silver star consisting of three or four smooth rays alternating with on thick faceted ray, the medallion is superimposed with a six armed white enamelled cross, the center features a six point white enamelled star on a silver gilt disc, reverse presents a single pin assembly with dual stays, measures 75.75mm (w) x 83.60mm (h), 109.2 grams, oxidized silver, centerpiece loose, otherwise in very fine condition.

Footnote: The Order of the White Star was established by Prime Minister Konstantin Päts in 1936 in commemoration of the struggle for Estonian independence. It was later suppressed during the Soviet occupation, but it was renewed in 1996 following the restoration of Estonian independence. The II Class Cross is identical to the III Class Cross, however only the II Class Cross is worn with a Breast Star.
