Constructed of silver gilt, an outstanding enameled black Maltese Cross with gilded edges, the obverse centre presenting a silver Estonian Eagle clutching a sword and an Estonian shield partially enameled, the reverse inscribed by institution date of 24 II 1928, with motto Pro Patria (For Fatherland) along the arms, measuring 47 mm (w) x 46.8 mm (h), suspended by replacement ribbon, with slightly loose of the central eagle, otherwise extremely fine.
Footnote: This Order was established by the Estonian Defence League in 1928 in commemoration of the 10th anniversary of Estonian independence. In 1936 it was adopted by the Estonian Parliament in the Decoration Act, which recognized it as a national award. The Order was suppressed during the Soviet occupation, but was later renewed in 1995 after the restoration of Estonian independence.
